ACC chili cookoff to return in March, competition heats up

Do you smell savory spices in the air? We thought so! The 30th Annual Downtown Development Association’s ACC Chili Cook Off presented by Burke County Farm Bureau Insurance is back on the court and in-person on Friday, March 15th from 11am to 1:30pm at the Morganton Community House located at 120 North King Street.

We invite you to come enjoy top notch chili from amateur chefs and commercial restaurants. The select panel of highly trained chili eating judges will crown the best chili in each category. Sample them to see if you agree with their taste buds. Tickets are $10 and include all-you-can-eat chili with all the fixin’s including cornbread, salad, dessert and a drink. To go orders and delivery in the downtown area will also be available. Delivery orders will be $10. Delicious chili is not the only thing to look forward to this year, as we bring back our big screen televisions and ACC basketball while visiting with friends inside the comforts of the Morganton Community House. There will be interactive basketball games to win prizes and photo opportunities with the new red hot chili pepper mascot. Tickets are available for purchase before the event from DDA board members, online, at the Main Street Office, or at the door during the event. Kasey has told me all about the event and how much fun it is, so I am ready to see for myself. I am looking forward to seeing everyone there and tasting some delicious chili!”

Kasey Goodfellow, community events coordinator, said “I can smell that delicious chili already! The Chili Cook Off is an engaging community event that helps keep everyone warm during the chilly/chili month of March.
