Art In Storefronts - Call to Artists

The Main Street Office is seeking artist proposals for the Art In Storefronts installation. Proposals will be accepted through July 7, 2021.Storefronts provide temporary, street-facing display space for 2-D or 3-D artwork. The artwork will be presented in a locked, unconditioned and vacant storefront and will be viewed through windows for a period of up to twelve months.

The Art In Storefronts project location is located in the storefront windows of the buildings in what is called the “Belk Block”. The physical locations are 200 West Union, 204 West Union, and 214 West Union Street in downtown Morganton, North Carolina. These locations are privately owned and each owner has agreed to the location of artworks. Owners may require removal of artwork at any time.

There is a possibility for up to 9 artists to be awarded an Art In Storefronts location. Artists may submit proposals for more than one location. Proposals will be considered separately so a proposal for 9 may be only chosen for one or other quantity.

Winning proposals will receive a stipend ranging from $100-$500 depending upon location.
